Golden Haired Mermaid

The Golden  Haired Mermaid

Diddle de dandy,
skittle-dee  do,
Let's  pirate a ship
To an island lagoon

Skittle- dee dandy,
dittle de - do,
 I'll dance  on the  waves
While you fiddle a tune

'Once was a maiden
With blue eyes, so fair ,
And  bright ribbons  wrapped
 'Round her fine  golden hair

( To go to the seaside,
Her mother  forbade,
Lest  she return home   -
A golden haired maid.)

But girls will be girls
And alas,  this one, too
Skiddle  de dandy,
Dittle  de do

So,
'Scaped  she   to the seaside
One bright diddle- day,
To seek  three young  mermaids
'All wishin' to play,

They  rode on great waves,
And dove down to the  deep,
They  played all day long
Till that  Lass   fell  asleep -

And when she awoke
What a sight!  She had scales!
'All glistening, shining
Upon a great tail.

So...
With a  quick glance behind,
And a flap of her fin,
That Lass  dove right in.....
And was 'ner seen again.

Diddle dandy
skittle-dee  dee
Let's swim to where mermaids
Live deep, under sea

Skittle- dee dandy,
diddle de - do,
Let's dance on the waves
While I fiddle this  tune.

Nothing

Nothing

Who are you, my busy friend,
When all your work  is  done ,
And  you're with left nothing but an empty page?

Wherever can you  go when
All your dreams have been erased
And all your small  arrangements
Are  replaced?

What's that song that's playing
Underneath the over- tones?
And who's the one who's praying
When your heart's  as  cold as stone?

Does love include  the boogyman
That's hiding in your head?
Can God  redeem you from the depths
And heal you with His  bread?

Show me all the roses
That encircle planet earth,
I'll take you  where  your spirit dwells
In tunnels named re-birth.

Find me where I'm hiding
In between  the rows of corn;
I'll sing for you with all my  heart
And watch , as you are born.

What do you do,
When all your deeds  are done
And  you're down to one half- melted    ice cream cone?

Who  are you when all
Your dreams have been erased?
Your  nothing, and your everything
At once .

Wanting

Wanting

Have you ever loved someone,
Who loves you back, plus more?
Have you e'r been treasured by
Someone whom you adore?

Have you ever wondered why
You're true love hides, and where?
Though you hear her calling,
And her scent is in the air...

Perhaps your waiting for the girl
Who sets your soul  aflame,
With unrequited passion,
And a  strange, exotic name.

Or maybe you are looking for
A small, round, home-grown type-
Who sews,  and cleans and makes the beds,
And cooks  organic rice?

Perhaps your searching for your love,
Upon some distant shore,
(But, even if  you  find her,
You'll just   keep on looking more....)

Chorus:
'Cause when it's day you long for night,
At night you crave the sun,
How can you have  what's yours, my friend,
When searching's  what you want?

No matter what you're looking for,
No matter what the game,
The characters all come and go,
But  some things never change:

It seems you want somebody
Who don't want  you, quite the same,
And  when you sense their disregard
Your instincts start to "clang",

Your heart begins to flutter,
Thinking  " this may  be The ONE!"
'Cause  something in your  heart, my friend,
Just needs to run, and run....

Chorus:
'Cause when it's day you long for night,
At night you wait for dawn,
How can you have what's yours, my friend,
When yearning's  what you want?

No matter what you're looking for,
No matter what's the game,
The characters all come and go,
But, some things just don't change.

And so you go around the track,
Finding all the specks of black
In anyone who  wants   you, and
Who wants to love  you back.

And when the  search is on, again,
Your know the  lines, your on your game,
( While in your heart  your kind of mad,
Relieved,  frustrated, sad, but glad.)

And  , you're  worth so much more,  yes, you...
Your kind, and wise and funny, too!
And when you  find someone like you,
Just hold her tight, and love her true!

Chorus:
'Cause when it's day you long for night,
At night you crave the day,
How can have what's yours, my friend
When  wanting's  what you crave?

No matter what you're looking for,
No matter what's  the game,
The characters will come and go,
But, some things never   change...
